Bengaluru, Nov 11: The Karnataka high court on Friday dismissed a PIL against the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes by the Union government.

Dismissing the petition filed by one Mohammed Haroon Rashid, an advocate, a division bench headed by chief justice noted that hiccups are common when such an exercise is undertaken. The Union government informed the court that demonetization was undertaken as parallel economy was ruining the country.
The petitioner ,who argued himself ,claimed that a silent majority, who are not computer savvy are affected by this exercize which was suddenly implemented from the midnight of November 8, a couple of hours after prime minister made the announcement at 8 pm. He also claimed that the notification issued violates the RBI act.
