Bengaluru, Dec 7: Karnataka government on Friday launched “Prabhudha”, a financial assistance scheme to the prospective students belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, to enable them to go for higher studies in foreign universities.
Under the scheme, the eligible SC/ST students with family income being less than Rs 8 lakhs per annum, can avail the benefit. They would get reimbursement of tuition fee, travelling expenses as well as living expenses, during their stay in Abroad.
The students belonged to the income limit between Rs 8 to 15 lakhs can avail 50 per cent of their higher education cost, while others in the income group of over Rs 15 lakhs per annum can get a financial assistance of 33 per cent of their expenditure.
The state government has earmarked over Rs 120 crores for the scheme, in which about 400 young SC/ST students can avail the free financial support from the state government.
