Bengaluru, Nov 30: Karnataka will see an increase in hiring for the country's BPO/ KPO, ITES, software and IT sectors, according to India Hiring Intent Survey 2017.

The preferred age group for hiring in BPO/KPO and ITES sectors is 22 to 25 years and 26 to 29 years in Software and IT sector, which shows a clear inclination towards young candidates. However, gender-wise percentage for males and females in all these sectors is just around the magic number of 33% — BPO/KPO and ITES (62.63% : 37.37%); Software & IT sectors (70.71% : 29.29%).
“Bengaluru is a conglomeration of many IT companies, be it largest IT firms of India, the fastest growing ones or the numerous technology startups. As per the survey, though the large IT, BPO/KPO/ITES firms might experience this increase in hiring; there are lot of firms — startups, small and medium size — that are expecting to grow at a much faster pace resulting in an overall positive outlook,” said Pankaj Bansal, Co-founder and CEO, PeopleStrong.
The survey was a part of India Skills Report 2017, a joint initiative by PeopleStrong, a HR solutions and HR technology company, Wheebox, a global talent assessment company, Linkedin, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Association of Indian University (AIU), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Wheebox Employability Skill Test (WEST) surveyed all 29 States, seven Union Territories and 3,000 educational campuses across India, besides assessing about 5.2 lakh candidates on parameters like knowledge, skill aptitude and behavioural components. Skill gaps that are scientific in nature were validated using reliable Talent assessment tools.
As per the survey, industrywise the share of contractual workforce shows a bit of variation, which can be attributed to their respective workforce needs. While in sectors like Internet business, BPO, KPO, ITES, Software, Hardware, IT and Telecom, almost 50% of organisations have negligible contractual workforce, whereas in sectors like manufacturing, engineering and auto, FMCG, Pharma & Healthcare, the composition of contractual workforce is significantly higher.
