Mangaluru, Feb 14: A road accident victim and a kerosene stove explosion victim from Kasaragod breathed their last at two separate hospitals in Mangaluru, while a woman from Dakshina Kannada district was killed on spot in Kasaragod district.

Ashokan, 45, an autorikshaw driver, was killed as his vehicle collided with a truck at Mavungal near Kanhangad on Friday, the police said. The accident occurred around 8 a.m. when he was taking three schoolchildren, including his daughter, to school.
While Ashokan, who suffered grievous injuries as he came under the overturned three-wheeler, died in a hospital in Mangaluru. The children had a miraculous escape. He is survived by wife and a two-month-old son.
In another accident, a 29-year-old woman, Zuhra, was killed as the motorbike on which she was travelling with her husband, was hit by another motorbike, which also dashed another two-wheeler, at Povvel near Bovikkanam on Thursday. Five others also suffered injuries in the accident, the police said.
The couple, residents of Ajjavara near Sullia in Dakshina Kananda district of Karnataka were on a visit to their relatives.
