Khushboo, a Congress leader from Tamil Nadu, went around the City from Magadi Road in the morning and later campaigned at Chamarajpet. In what could be termed a local connect she was able strike a chord with ease at an area that is predominantly inhabited by the Tamil-speaking population. The South Indian actor urged the residents vote for Mageshwari who is contesting from the Chalavadipalya ward in Chamarajpet assemble constituency.

Khushboo was also greeted with a Mysuru Peta as she went on a road show. Scores of people for whom election campaigning might have been a usual affair spilled out on the streets just to get a glimpse of the actor.

Khushboo also addressed a press meet at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office in the noon. “It is not true that the State government is not giving enough importance to people from Tamil Nadu residing here. Even people are aware of this. I have not come here only to seek votes of the Tamil-speaking population. I can also connect with the local masses as I have acted in over 20 Kannada movies," she said.

The actress also took the opportunity to lash out at her political opponent in her home State. She said that Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa had to set her ego aside. “In Tamil Nadu, children consume alcohol and walk into schools. There is an understanding between the distilleries and the government," she said. Khushboo said that while Jayalalitha did not attend the last rites of Dr A P?J?Abdul Kalam citing ill-health, she was fine when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the State.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
