Kidney health awareness rally and training programme held in Puttur

Mangaluru, Jan 30: A kidney health awareness rally and training for Asha workers on kidney disease survey was held at Puttur, near here on Thursday as a part of Dakshina Kannada district level Kidney Health Campaign (Jan 13-March 12, 2015) initiated by Mangalore Nephro-Urology Charitable Trust along with NGOs.

Shakunthala Shetty, Puttur MLA, inaugurated the rally. She said that kidney disease can affect people of all ages and races. “This is a good campaign because it is better to prevent the disease rather than to cure it later,” she said.

Puttur Municipality President Jagadish Shetty, Dr Mohammed Saleem Chairman Mangalore Nephro-Urology Charitable Trust, Vishwas Shenoy, President Rotary club Puttur East, Soorya Narayana, dist Secretary Rotary Club, Surendhra Kini, President Rotary Club, Puttur City, Pramodh Mallar, Secretary Rotary Club, Puttur City, Oscar Anand, President, Rotary Club, Puttur, Soorappa Arsamal, President, JCI Puttur, Usman Haji Mittur, President, Markaz Al Huda Womens College, Kumbra, Mohammed Saheb, Correspondent, Mountain View High School and Nagesh Balnad, President, Yuvavahini Puttur were present on the occasion.

The awareness rally started from Yelmudi and culminated at Manisha Rotary hall, with the volunteers handing out water bottles and pamphlets containing essential information about the kidney and its ailments to the public. Students from Pragathi Paramedical College and Mountain View High School and Asha Workers of Puttur Taluk participated in the rally.

After the rally a training programme was conducted to the Asha Workers at Manisha Rotary Hall, Former MLC Anna Vinayachandra dictated the oath. Umar U.H. General Secretary Kindney Health Campaign Organising Committee welcomed the gathering and conducted training programme. Rasheed Vitla Chairman MFriends proposed the vote of thanks.

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru CEN police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly posting provocative and misleading content on an Instagram page named “mr_a_titude”, targeting the Bajpe police.

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy C H identified the arrested as Abhishek M, a resident of Katipalla in Mangaluru.

A case has been registered at the Bajpe Police Station under Sections 353(1)(c), 353(2), 56, and 57 read with Section 189 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the post.

According to police, the accused uploaded a photograph of a hotel on the Instagram page and alleged that accused persons in a murder case under the Bajpe police jurisdiction were being given “royal treatment” by the police, including being served beef meals daily from the hotel.

The post further accused the police of supporting criminals, misusing their authority, and betraying public trust. Police said the content was provocative in nature and aimed at inciting public outrage against the police.

Following the post, a case was registered at the Bajpe police station, and further investigation was transferred to the CEN police station.

Police records indicate that the accused has a criminal history, with multiple cases registered against him, including murder, attempt to murder, assault, and robbery at the Surathkal Police Station, and one case at the Kaup Police Station.

The Commissioner said the accused was traced and arrested using technical evidence.
