Revanasiddappa alias Kayakada Revanna (56) of Turchaghatta in Davangere taluk was arrested on Thursday. The other two suspects have been identified as Aanjanappa (45), a resident of Gadikallu in Thirthalli taluk and Prakash (48), a resident of Mandarahalli in Shivamogga taluk.

IGP (Eastern Range) M Nanjundaswamy, told mediapersons here on Friday that Aanjanappa, the mastermind behind the burglary, had worked as attendant for the Kuvempu Prathishtana for 15 years.

He sold two stolen medals of University of Mysore to Prakash for Rs 10,000. However, the police are yet to trace the Padma Vibhushan award also stolen from the memorial.
Aanjanappa knew Revanna for several years and he was involved in several burglaries, a majority of them at temples. He had been convicted in five such cases, the IGP said.
The department has declared a cash prize of Rs 10,000 to Intelligence Wing staffer Manjunath, who played a key role in tracing the prime accused.

Meanwhile, Kadidal Prakash, the assistant secretary of the memorial, said that the Padma Bhushan award conferred on the poet laurate has not been stolen as claimed earlier.

“Earlier, we thought Padma Bhushan award was also stolen. Later, we realised that the award had not been handed over to the Pratishtana from the family members of the poet. I believe it is still with them. Now, we have to collect from them. Our staff lodged a complaint at Thirthahalli police station stating that Padma Bhushan award was also stolen.”

Mangaluru police have arrested a 27-year-old NRI on his return from Saudi Arabia in connection with an Instagram post allegedly containing derogatory and provocative remarks about the Hindu religion, officials said on Monday.

The accused, Abdul Khader Nehad, a resident of Ulaibettu in Mangaluru, was working in Saudi Arabia when the post was uploaded, police said.

A suo motu case was registered at the Bajpe police station on October 11 after an allegedly offensive post circulated from the Instagram account ‘team_sdpi_2025’. Police said the content was flagged for being provocative and derogatory in nature.

During the investigation, technical analysis traced the Instagram post to Nehad, who was residing abroad at the time, a senior police officer said. Based on these findings, a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him.

On December 14, Nehad arrived from Saudi Arabia at Calicut International Airport in Kerala, where he was taken into custody on arrival. Police said further investigation is underway.
