Mandya, Mar 23: A 26-year-old lecturer allegedly committed suicide as her marriage, which was fixed for Sunday, was called off. Her parents alleged that the daughter took the extreme step as they could not fulfil the dowry demand of the groom, a software engineer.

The deceased has been identified as Shruthi, daughter of Venkataramegowda of Basaveshwara Nagar Layout in KR Pet taluk. After writing a lengthy 12-page death note, she took the extreme step.
Shruthi who was a lecturer at BGS Engineering College, got engaged to K T Huthesh, son of Thimmegowda of Gandhinagar in Channarayapatna on November 6.
The marriage was fixed on March 27. The parents claimed that as per the demand of the groom, who works in Bengaluru, 150 gm of gold ornaments were given to Shruthi at the time of the engagement. Later Huthesh allegedly called Shruthi and demanded a site in Bengaluru, a car and some more gold. Shruthi's parents held talks with the family members, but it was in vain, they said. The girl took the step on March 17. Though she was admitted to a hospital, she breathed her last on March 21.
Venkataramegowda said those responsible for this should be punished. A case has been registered at KR Pet Town police station. Police said they are investigating the case.

Lecturer/teacher for what ? if she does not know the meaning of life.Such kind of teachers are responsible for present situation of India. Teaching just for source of income.
