Bengaluru, Aug 12: Congress supremo Rahul Gandhi has reportedly warned former chief minister Siddaramaiah against destabilising the Congress-JD(S) coalition government headed by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy in Karnataka.

According to media reports Rahul has also advised Siddaramaiah to take precautions while holding meetings with ministers and Congress MLAs and make sure that it does not give an impression that he is trying to encourage dissident activities.

Siddaramaiah, who was in New Delhi recently to attend the Congress Working Committee meeting, was also told to extend full co-operation for the smooth functioning of the government so that Kumaraswamy discharge his responsibilities as the CM.

The Congress top leadership’s instructions to Siddaramaiah gains significance as the former chief minister had openly expressed unhappiness over the functioning of the coalition government. His back-to-back dinner meetings with ministers and close confidants also triggered speculation of possible dissident activities.

The party national president also instructed Siddaramaiah, who is the chairman of the co-ordination committee, that any issues with the government should be resolved amicably through talks and not by going to the media. A similar message was given to newly appointed Pradesh Congress president Dinesh Gundu Rao and working president Eshwar Khandre, sources said.

Rahul also recently told some prominent state leaders that the onus on running the coalition government is on the Congress “since we gave unconditional support”.

Since this decision was taken at the highest level of the party to prevent the BJP from forming the government, nobody in the state unit should question this or disrupt this move, said a senior leader.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
