
According to the company, the buses will be used for inter-city transport in various European countries. Volvo Buses had already made an additional investment of Rs. 400 crore since 2011 to strengthen various manufacturing procedures. Presently, its manufacturing facility in Hoskote has a production capacity of 1,500 buses.
The company on Tuesday also reiterated its commitment to invest in the State. “We are planning to invest around Rs 900 crore in India. Major portion of this will be in Karnataka,” said Kamal Bali, Managing Director, Volvo India (P) Ltd.
Volvo officials also said the company is planning to expand the facility in Hoskote and is looking to purchase 90 acres for the same.
