In the letter dated March 30, from Madinah in Saudi Arabia, where he is on a pilgrimage, Sharief said,?“I?am writing this letter from Madinah to convey to you that we have prayed for you, your family and your party both in Makkah and Madinah, for a thumping victory in all the seats in Karnataka.”
JD(S)?leaders and candidates are now hopeful that Sharief is likely to return to the State and campaign for the party after April 10.
One candidate stated that if Sharief campaigns for JD(S), it will help the party create a dent in the Congress votebanks in Bangalore and to a certain extent, across the State.
Sharief backed out from contesting on a JD(S)?ticket from Mysore constituency at the last minute, sending the party into a tizzy. It?has now fielded former Upa Lokayukta Chandrashekaraiah there.
