Mangalore, Mar 18: Terming the recent allegations made against the Aam Aadmi Party candidate for Lok Sabha elections from Dakshina Kannada constituency M R Vasudeva as false ', the candidate himself said that it was part of a conspiracy by few individuals to undermine the performance of the budding party in the forthcoming elections.
Addressing mediapersons at a press conference at AAP district office here on Tuesday, the former airport director of Mangalore International Airport said that the allegations made on him were unsubstantiated and baseless. “As an airport director, I was a catalyst between the central airport authorities and the locals when the airport required land for its expansion. If not for my concern towards the local families residing in the area, both the project and the rehabilitation package would have been further delayed. The allegations have been aimed at me with the intention of undermining the party 's prospects in view of the coming elections,” he stressed, denying allegations of being anti-farmer and anti-people.

Following reports in a section of media outlining his alleged ties with the RSS, he clarified that besides being the AAP candidate at present, he had had associations with several organisations previously, on the basis of which it was wrong to plant false allegations against him in the media. “Although I had had associations with organisations such as RSS and Bharat Seva Dal long ago, it is inconsequential and unnecessary to give importance and highlight it in the media,” he said, following reporting.
He also said that he had been approached by both Congress and BJP earlier to join them at the district level which he had declined.
The AAP committee said that there was no rift among the party members regarding the candidature of M R Vasudeva. The committee also released an official statement clarifying the issues raised in the media.
Speaking on the Yettinahole or Nethravati diversion project, Mr Vasudeva said that AAP would oppose the disastrous project that would harm the district. “We will not allow the implementation of the project, without any scientific study made on the impact of the project,” he said.
AAP convenors Dharmendra, Rohan Shiri and S Nandagopal were present.
