Mangaluru, Aug 25: Activist, social worker and Congress leader Mohammed Badruddin passed away in Bengaluru on Tuesday. He was 54.

A member of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), he had been to state capital ahead of counting of votes in BBMP polls.
Family sources said that he travelled to Bengaluru on Monday and stayed in the house of his friend and former MLC Saleem Mohammed.
On Tuesday morning he was relaxing on a sofa and chatting with Mr Saleem on BBMP results. All of a sudden he collapsed due to low blood sugar. He was immediately taken to a hospital in Basavangar, where he breathed his last.
He was also the chairman of Mangaluru based Al-Wafa Trust which is known for conducting mass marriages.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter and a large number of relatives and friends. His body is being taken to Mangaluru for final rites.
