According to police, Sudarshan, who was running a garment shop, had left his workplace on August 11 along with his brother Sudhir Jain, who runs an air conditioner sales and service shop, on his motorbike, after finishing work. When they reached near his house in Hosabettu, Sudhir’s friends were waiting in a car.
They bundled Sudarshan inside and took him to a remote location. He was strangled and stabbed, after which his body was thrown into the Phalguni River. It was recovered a few days later near Maravoor Dam. Accused Sandeep used to work with Sudhir.
The reason for the murder was a property dispute. Sudarshan’s mother had sold 2.7 acres, recently, for Rs 27 lakh, and had received Rs 6 lakh in advance. Sudhir had received Rs 3 lakh, and he used to harass his brother Sudarshan to give his share of the money to him too, said sources.
