Mangaluru, Apr 27: A youth, working as a receptionist and cashier at a hotel in Mangaluru, ended his life by jumping off the hotel building on Wednesday.
It is learnt that the Nihal Bhandary, 23, resident of Pumpwell, resorted to the extreme step after the management caught him red-handed while siphoning off money from a cash counter.
The incident occurred at Hotel Kumar's International near Bendorwell. Since there was shortage of cash in the account everyday, the owner of the hotel on Wednesday called Nihal to enquire about the same and showed him a CCTV footage where he was seen taking cash from the counter and pocketing it.
When the owner repeatedly asked him why he took the money, Nihal kept denying. Later, when the owner said he would lodge a complaint with police, Nihal went to the top floor of the hotel building and jumped off. He died on the spot.
