Mangaluru: Cop accused of barging into house, assaulting woman in Bajpe

Mangaluru, Oct 30: A woman has alleged that Bajpe police inspector TD Nagaraj barged into her house and assaulted her while on the search for an accused.

Resident of Bajpe Malali Zainabi, who was assaulted, has been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.

The woman's husband MA Mohammed has submitted a memorandum to the police commissioner urging proper legal action against the erring police inspector.

According to the complaint submitted by MA Mohammed, inspector T D Nagaraj barged into the house at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday and behaved in a rude manner.

In connection with a stabbing case that occurred in Gantalkatte a month ago, he demanded to know where the accused Anwar was, and directed harsh words at his daughter-in-law. He also assaulted his wife Zainabi and pushed her, he said in the memorandum, urging the police commissioner to take action against the inspector.

He said taht the incident had mentally disturbed Zainabi, who was suffering from ill health. The inspector also used harsh words with Mohammed before threatening to book him under false charges if they did not hand over the accused. He also disrupted the things kept around before storming out of the house. This entire episode has created a fearful atmosphere among the family, he said.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: The Mangaluru City Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the inaugural ceremony of Karavali Utsava, which will be held at the Karavali Utsava Ground on Saturday.

The festival will be inaugurated at 6:00 pm by Dakshina Kannada District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. Cultural and public programmes will be held at the venue every evening and will continue until January 2.

According to City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, parking of vehicles is strictly prohibited on both sides of the road from Lalbagh to Karavali Utsava Ground. Visitors are requested to park their vehicles only at designated parking areas.

To help the public, traffic signboards and parking guidance flex boards have been installed along the routes leading to the venue. The police have urged commuters and visitors to follow these instructions to ensure smooth traffic movement.
