Mangaluru, Jul 26: Has the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) completed the investigations into suicide of Mangaluru DySP M K Ganapathi? According to sources in the state government, the CID has stopped work on it and the matter will be now probed by Madikeri police.
"The CID has ceased its investigations and will make the evidence and documentation available to local police," said a government official.
Meanwhile, the parellel judicial probe has been delayed due to procedural changes in the government notification. While home minister G Parameshwara's office said the file pertaining to the judicial probe has been cleared and sent to the department for implementation, the department is yet to start setting up of the office and asking retired high court judge Justice Keshavanarayana to take charge.
Officials in the home department said they're awaiting clarity in the orders which have been issued and will execute them after Parameshwara returns to work. While the local police probe and the judicial probe will be done parellely, sources said the terms of reference for the two investigations are separate.
While the police investigation will concentrate on the criminal angle in the suicide, the judicial probe is scheduled to look at the broader issue of whether there was any harassment of the DSP by persons he named in the video interview he gave before taking the drastic step.
While the judicial committee will submit its report to the government, Madikeri police will hand over its report to the magistrate court.
