Mangaluru, Jan 19: Kerala Kuwait Muslim Association (KKMA) distributed scholarships to students and handed over a house to a poor family at a formal programme held at Jamiyyatul Falah hall in the city on Sunday.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai said that education was essential for a life free from exploitation as well as to lead an independent one. He lauded the efforts of the association in helping to build a stable society.
He inaugurated the programme by handing over the key to one of the beneficiaries in a symbolic gesture.
Distributing the scholarships to students on the occasion, health minister U T Khader encouraged the students to fully utilise the benefits of the scholarships provided by the association and its members.
Speaking during the programme, retired vice Chancellor of Calicut University Dr M Abdul Rahiman said that there was a need to stress on moral education in the present scenario.
In the programme, DK District Wakf advisory committee president S M Rashid Haji, Jamiyyatul Falah DK and Udupi districts' president Saduddin Salih, KKMA president B M Iqbal, zilla panchayat member M S Mohammed, KKMA district convenor S M Farooq, Abdul Lathif, Haneef Haji and others were present.
Umar U H from the Career Guidance Academy provided guidance for the students after the programme.
