Mangaluru, Sep 9: A senior citizen from the coastal city of Mangaluru was arrested on Tuesday evening by Bengaluru police in connection with a fresh case of hoax bomb call.

The development comes within a couple of days after police unmasked the man behind bomb threat calls made to the Bengaluru Airport. MG Gokul, 37-year-old notorious techie was arrested on Sunday for threatening to carry out terror attacks in the name of so called Islamic State (IS).
On Monday night, police control room in Bengaluru had received another hoax bomb call from an unknown person.
Tracking the mobile phone, a team of police from Bengaluru rushed to Mangaluru and picked up Reginald with the help of their counterparts here.
Police sources said that Reginald had called the control room to inform that he had placed a bomb in a central area in the city. The team immediately alerted the jurisdictional police and on conducting a search, it was learnt to be a hoax call.
“Our counterparts were alerted and a team of policemen were sent to Mangaluru from where Reginald was arrested. We will investigate to find out why he made the calls,” a senior police officer said.
Dubbing the accused as “lunatic”, S Murugan, the Commissioner of Mangaluru City Police said that the city police aided their Bengaluru counterparts in locating and apprehending him.
