Mangaluru, Nov 10: When an accident victim was in need of emergency medical help, onlookers took out their smart phones and kept capturing photos and videos of his plight until he became unconscious and breathed his last in Mangaluru.

The victim, who was left to die on the road by the crazy mob, has been identified as Sandesh Alva. The incident occurred on National Highway 66 at Ujjodi near Pumpwell Circle on Monday.

An eye-witness said that Alva, who was riding a two-wheeler, was hit by a tempo. When the rider was thrown onto the road, the very same tempo passed over him, leaving him in an extremely critical condition.

Within a few seconds people rushed to the accident site. But, instead of tending to the victim, they were busy shooting his plight, said a helpless elderly eyewitness said.

After sometime, the victim was taken to the nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. According to the doctors, he could have been saved if he had immediately been rushed to the hospital.

A case has been registered at Mangaluru Rural police station and investigations are on.
