Even as the press conference was going on, BJP workers, led by Franklin Monteiro, staged a protest outside the bhawan raising slogans against Mr. Bhagawan. The police detained them and took them away to prevent any trouble.

In the press conference, Mr. Bhagawan alleged that the seer was showing lip sympathy for the welfare of the downtrodden of Hinduism. He alleged that the seer did not have real concern for their welfare. Criticising some characters in the Ramayana and the Bhagawad Gita, he said that only the Constitution was supreme.
