Mangaluru, Sept 15: The Mangaluru City South Assembly Constituency unit of the Social Democratic Party of India today took out a rally to register its protest against the alleged anti-people policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre.
Holding placards and flags, and raising slogans, the activists of SDPI marched from the premises of the Mini Vidhana Soudha to the entrance gate of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where the staged a protest meet.
Addressing the protesters, Riyaz Farangipete, general secretary of Karnataka state unit of SDPI, said that the country is facing an “undeclared emergency” ever since Mr Modi became its prime minster.
He said that the PM spent last four years only in appeasing the business magnets, capitalists and advocates of Hindutva and never paid heed to the problems faced by the people of the country.
He lamented that despite witnessing the weakening rupees and unprecedented hike in the prices of petrol, diesel and other essential commodities, the ‘bhakts’ of Mr Modi continued to justify the blunders of NDA government.
SDPI local unit president Suhail Khan presided over the protest meet. District unit president Ataullah Jokatte delivered introductory remarks. Ashraf Manchi, Naufal Kudroli, Azeez Mulki were present among others.
