Mangaluru, Aug 10: Almost two weeks after he drowned in the River Bhadra near Kalsa in Mudigere taluk, the body of an engineer from Mangaluru was found yesterday.
The victim is Kiran Kotyan, an engineer who was working with Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF) at Panamburu, Mangaluru. He was a native of Thumbe village in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.
Kotyan was on a visit to Kalasa along with his friends on July 26. During a visit to Ambateertha, he fell into the river. According to his friends, he was watching the river standing on a rock and fell into water as the rock was slippery. Since then, local people, a team of NDRF have conducted search operations.
On Thursday, the body was found in the river at Haluvalli village. Srinivas, a resident of Haluvalli called up the Kalasa Police to inform that he spotted a body floating in the river near the village.
Kalasa Police Inspector Ramachandra and his team rushed to the spot and with the help of expert swimmer Bhaskar traced the body to Magundi Bridge later in the day.
