Mangaluru, Mar 2: Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy conducted preconference workshop on “Recent trends in sports medicine and fitness” at its auditorium as a part of Mangalore Physiocon 2017 on Thursday.

Dr.Ranjith Shetty, Trustee, Dr.M.V.Shetty memorial trust presided over the inaugural function. He said that Dr. M. Ramgopal Shetty, Founder, Dr. M.V. Shetty Memorial Trust started the first physiotherapy college in Karnataka state and framed the physiotherapy curriculum.
Dr.Ramanandha shetty, Vice Chancellor, NITTE University was the chief guest. He spoke on the importance of physiotherapy and felicitated Dr.M.V.Shetty memorial trust who brought physiotherapy course rather than medical courses first of its kind in Karnataka for the benefit of patients.
Dr. Ali Irani, Former Indian cricket physiotherapist and HOD of Nanavati hospital, Mumbai was the resource person. He stressed about the importance of central physiotherapy council and the difference of physiotherapy practice in India and abroad. Prof. L. Gladson Jose, Principal of the college spoke about ethics and regulations to maintain standard of physiotherapy profession as well as of professionals.
Dr. Mohammad Suhail, Organizing secretary welcomed the gathering. Dr.Sarath. coordinator delivered vote of thanks. Dr.U.T.Ifthikar Ali, Organizing chairman of Mangalore Physiocon 2017 and Senate Member, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences organized the program. Dr.Pratibha Mary was the master of ceremony. Dr.Geoviya, Dr.Akhil, Dr.Manisha, Dr.Cynthia and Dr.Priya Rai and other faculty members were present. On this day more 225 students, PG’s and Physiotherapy Delegates from Mangalore and all over India, Nepal, Srilanka and U.A.E. were present.
