Madikeri, Dec 5: Opposing the two railway lines and 4-lane highways proposed to be constructed in Kodagu District, activists under the banner Kodagu Maraka Yojane Virodhi Vedike will be organising a public rally in this town on December 8.
President of the campaign committee Rajeev Bopaiah in a release issued here on Wednesday said these projects would deeply affect the hilly district and its people.
It would lead to uprooting of four lakh trees, he claimed.
He said this would result in decrease in rainfall in the district which is main catchment of Cauvery rider and also affect coffee, pepper and cardamom plantation.
“There have been enough problems in the district due to the lopsided schemes of the government, both centre and state.
