Mild tension prevails in Konaje after man allegedly attempts rape on neighbour

Mangalore, Jul 14: Tension prevailed in Konaje area for some time on Monday after a miscreant belonging to one community tried to sexually assault a woman belonging to another community.

The accused Satish (25), a resident of Amblamogaru Tilaknagar near Konaje has been arrested by the police.

According to sources, the accused stealthily gained entry into the house of the woman early morning on Monday and attempted to sexually assault on her.

It is learnt that the accused seized the opportunity when the husband of the woman went to Masjid for Fajr Namaz.

When the woman began to scream a few neighbours came to her house. This made Satish to flee the scene.

The husband of the woman later filed a complaint with jurisdictional Konaje police, who nabbed the accused from his house.

It is learnt that the family of the accused and the family of the victim had quarreled on Sunday evening when the accused physically assaulted the woman.

After police arrested Satish, his family members tired to defend him by alleging the women of taking revenge against them.

Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
