Cincinnati, Aug 23: India's Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis crashed out of the Western and Southern Open at Cincinnati on Saturday, losing 4-6, 6-0, 6-10 to unseeded sisters Hao-Ching Chan and Yung-Jan Chan of Chinese Taipei.

The top-seeded Indo-Swiss duo lost the $2.7 million US Open series event encounter in an hour and 14 minutes.

In the opening set, the Chans clinched four break points against three by Mirza and Hingis to take an upper hand in the match.

But the top-seeded pair came back strongly in the second set as they won six consecutive games to run away with the set. Converting all three break point chances that they got, Mirza and Hingis took the game to the decider.

Mirza and Hingis, however, ran out of steam in the third set, even as the Chinese Taipei duo held their nerves to clinch the super tie-break 10-6 to make it to the finals.

With this victory, the Chan sisters have levelled their head-to-head record against Mirza-Hingis to 1-1.

They had lost to Mirza and Hingis at the Rogers Cup in Toronto last week.

Earlier, Leander Paes-Stan Wawrinka and Rohan Bopanna-Florin Mergea were ousted from the event after losing their men's doubles matches.
