Mobile game addict youth beheads father for snatching smartphone

Belagavi, Sept 9: A 25-year-old youth has brutally beheaded his father and also severed limb for snatching the smartphone. The incident took place in Karnataka’s Belagavi district in the wee hour on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Shankar Devappa Kumbar 60, a retired head constable a resident of Kakati in Belagavi.

The previous night Shankar had snatched the smartphone from his son Raghuveer Shankarappa Kumbar (25) who had habituated to mobile games.

When the father found his son playing games even in the early hours the former had snatched the gadget and admonished his son against playing video games.

The youth who was irked over this, in the wee hour, beheaded his father attacking him with the traditional cutting equipment used in the kitchen while the father was asleep.

The accused is now in police custody. Senior police officials have visited the spot. Kakati police have registered a case.

Heading to Karavali Utsava? Check traffic changes and parking rules in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Dec 20: The Mangaluru City Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the inaugural ceremony of Karavali Utsava, which will be held at the Karavali Utsava Ground on Saturday.

The festival will be inaugurated at 6:00 pm by Dakshina Kannada District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. Cultural and public programmes will be held at the venue every evening and will continue until January 2.

According to City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, parking of vehicles is strictly prohibited on both sides of the road from Lalbagh to Karavali Utsava Ground. Visitors are requested to park their vehicles only at designated parking areas.

To help the public, traffic signboards and parking guidance flex boards have been installed along the routes leading to the venue. The police have urged commuters and visitors to follow these instructions to ensure smooth traffic movement.
