Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Kumaraswamy said the Centre was misusing institutions like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) to conduct raids on leaders of its rival parties and frame its opponents in one or the other case. BJP leaders were having information about such raids much before they happened.

He said such political vendetta does not augur well for healthy politics. Terming the Centre as ‘anti-people’ and ‘anti-farmer,’ Kumaraswamy said the Centre was not willing to waive farm loans on the pretext that it would affect the GDP. At the same time, it gave Rs 13 lakh-crore incentives to the industrial sector. How come this had not affected the GDP, he asked.

He said even the Fasal Bima Yojana had not saved the farmers from crisis. Because of its unscientific guidelines, farmers were not able to get the benefits of the Centre’s scheme, Kumaraswamy said.

Denying reports that JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda had entered into a secret agreem¬ent with the Congress to support it in the forthcoming Asse¬mbly elections, Ku¬ma¬raswamy said the JD(S) would not have truck with any party and it would contest on its own. “The Congress is an anti-farmer party and joining hands with such a party will be nothing but cheating farmers. The Congress may be planting such stories in the media to create a bad opinion about the JD(S),” he added.
