Bengaluru, Feb 1: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy described the Interim Budget, presented by Union Minister Piyush Goyal in the Lok Sabha as ‘disappointed’ and ‘Election oriented’ exercise.
In his reaction to the Budget, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tried to dole out certain sops and benefits to many sections in the society, however “it lacks commitment. I have apprehension whether the officials of the Union government had assisted in preparing the interim budget or it was done at the RSS or in the BJP headquarters”.
Stating that the total cash benefit to the farmers of the Karnataka announced in the budget would account for Rs 3250 crore, he said that the total financial burden on the JD(S)-Congress Coalition government’s loan waiver scheme for the farmers is about Rs 44000 crore.
