National stability
Mysore,Nov 7: Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Executive?Committee Member R?Varalakshmi on Saturday lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making “meticulous attempts to destroy the stability of the country with his erroneous decisions”.

Addressing the gathering during the open meet organised in the city, Varalakshmi listed recent decisions on the possible hike in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the insurance sector from the existing 21 pc to 49 pc, besides opening the doors for FDI in defence and research areas to procure sophisticated weapons for the army. “What's more worrying is the government encouraging outside investments even in railways, which considered as the poor man's transportation network.”

While there has been a conspiracy to weaken the trade bodies by effecting the changes, jobs on contractual basis both in private and public sector was also worrying.

“Private companies can recruit employees on contractual basis up to 50 pc, while in the public sector it is 40 pc. Startups having less than 100 workers do not fall under the ambit of industries. Strangely, factories can shut shop without seeking the authorities permission. Modi who is known for his rhetoric is also uniting the destructive forces, who may renew the demand for building Ram temple at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. It may distort peace in the future,” added Varalakshmi.

With regard to the promises made by?Modi before assuming power,?Varalakshmi alleged that Modi was protecting the interests of industrialists, rather than being the people's servant as claimed by him.

“Modi's pro-capitalist mindset is evident by the aiding?of Adani Group with Rs 6,500 crore loan from banks to enable the group mobilise resource to invest Rs 8,500 crore in energy sector in Australia,” she said, adding that Modi had failed to keep up his word on bringing back the black money stashed abroad.

Kuppegala incident

Referring to the Kuppegala Government School incident where untouchability is being practised, Varalakshmi termed the incident as the failure of the government.

Prior to the meet, a rally was taken out from Kote Anjaneya Swamy temple to Gandhi Square with scores of workers participating in the procession.
