Mother complains against school for revealing sexual abuse victim’s identity

Mangaluru, May 21: The management of Mangaluru One School, Thokkottu, which had allegedly tried to defend a rapist and leveled false allegations against a three-and-half-year-old nursery student, who had been sexually abused in the school van, has now reportedly revealed the identity of the child victim.

The mother of the victim gave on Wednesday gave a complaint to S Murugan, City Police Commissioner, Mangaluru, accusing the school and Lady Goschen Hospital authorities of leaking the girl’s wound certificate, which bears her identity.

“The school management has sent the wound certificate, dated March 13, from the hospital to the parents of all students in the school. With such an act, the school authorities and the hospital have revealed the identity of the girl,” she said.

The mother also accused the school and hospital authorities of derailing the ongoing investigation, which is now being done by the Criminal Investigation Department.

Mr. Murugan said the complaint has been forwarded to the jurisdictional Ullal police station.

It could be a case of defamation. They are looking into other criminal provisions that could be invoked. A copy of the complaint has been sent to the Criminal Investigation Department, he said

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department has taken over investigation of the case from the Ullal police. The Ullal Police have already arrested the van driver.

Melkar, Dec 17: The 17th Annual Day and Graduation Ceremony of Melkar Women’s PU and Degree College, themed “Fusion-2K25,” was celebrated with dignity and enthusiasm, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey. Ms. Mashmooma Fathima served as the Master of Ceremonies. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Fathima Nida, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Ayisha Suhana.
