Thirthahalli, Dec 17: A Town Panchayat member on Tuesday lodged a complaint with the town police alleging that he had received a threat call on December 15 night from a person claiming to be an aide of gangster Ravi Pujari.

According to the police, the unidentified caller threatened to kill Town Panchayat member P C Satish Shetty and his family members if he did not withdraw within a week the statements he had given to the local media on the mysterious death of 14-year-old girl Nanditha in October at Thirthahalli.

Shetty told the police that the mobile number of the caller who spoke to him in Tulu was 9062934797. Satish had reportedly stated on December 10 that the parents of Nanditha knew she had consumed poison. Bajrang Dal leader Santosh Pujari, (a relative of T G Krishna Murthy, father of the girl) was the man who prompted the family to add abduction, sexual assault and other points to the case to give it a communal twist, in the complaint lodged with the police on October 31 after the death of Nanditha at KMC Hospital in Manipal.

Satish was with the family of Krishna Murthy when Nanditha was admitted to KMC Hospital in Manipal on October 31, where she died. It is said he had made arrangements to admit the girl to the hospital.

Bajrang Dal leader Santosh Pujari said, œGetting justice for Nanditha is our aim. There is no need to provoke anybody. I am not aware of the threat call from Ravi Pujari.

Speaking to media over the phone, Superintendent of Police Kaushlendra Kumar said the investigation was on and the police were making efforts to identity of the caller. He said no arrests had been made so far in connection with the fire mishap that gutted Krishna Murthy's grocery shop in the town last week.
