Mangaluru, Dec 18: The number of devotees performing ‘Ede Snana’ — a ritual of rolling over the ‘prasadam’ offered to the presiding deity — at Kukke Subrahmanya temple saw an increase on the second day of the Champa Shashti festivities.

As many as 401 devotees had performed the ritual on Wednesday, while 124 devotees had performed it on Tuesday, according to an official of the temple.
Devotees from different parts of the State had come to be a part of the festivities on the last of the three-day-long Champa Shashti celebrations. The highlight of the festivities on Thursday was the Brahma Rathotsava where the idol of the presiding deity was kept in a chariot that was taken around in the Car Street.
A large number of people pulled the chariot. There was tension when the chariot moved towards a side of the Car Street. Organisers managed to control the movement of the chariot.
The rathotsava ended around 10 a.m. Around 2 p.m. devotees performed ‘Ede Snana’.
