Bengaluru, Dec 4: The recent resort visit by disgruntled Congress leader and former Minister Satish Jarkiholi and some of his followers has sparked speculation about his future political move.

Mr. Jarkiholi and a few of his close associates visited a newly built resort in Kanakumbi, Khanapur taluk on the Karnataka-Goa border on Sunday night. On Monday, some presspersons who met him at his residence asked him if this was an indication that he was considering switching parties and joining the BJP. To this, he said: “We need to be prepared for everything.”
This led to speculation that he and his associates were planning defection. Some said that after visiting the resort in Khanapur, he proceeded to a resort in Goa. This was argued as further proof that resort politics was set in motion in the district.
However, Mr. Jarkiholi’s followers have strongly denied this. Shivanagouda Patil, former APMC president, who accompanied the leader to Kanakumbi, said: “Mr. Jarkiholi visited the resort on the invitation of the resort owner as a gesture of goodwill. Later, he went to Goa to attend a pre-wedding event. It has no political significance.”
