Moodbidri: Married woman found dead on terrace

Moodbidri, April 23: In a shocking incident, a married woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances on the terrace of her house at Bodyugudde in Nellikaru Gram Panchayat limits on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Prema (44), wife of Nagappa. The incident came to light, when a family member had gone to terrace to check on the water level in the tank.

It is said that since there are few marks on her neck and her clothes were found in a bucket near the house, there are possibilities of rape before murder.

It is said that Prema and Nagappa were at home on Saturday night while their daughter Jayanthi, son Jayakara along with their grandmother had been to watch a play near the house. When all the three came home, only Nagappa was at home.

When Jayakara asked about the whereabouts of his mother, Nagappa said that she too must have gone to watch the play. However, even after seven, she did not return home. Later, they found the body on the terrace. A case has been registered.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

• Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

• Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

• Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
