3,772 students build their career as Alva's Pragathi 2012 concludes

Mangalore, May 14: The two-day job fair - Alva's Pragathi 2012 conducted by Alva's Education Foundation on its campus in Moodbidri for the third consecutive year was a grand success.

As many as 3,772 students were placed in different companies through the mega event held on Saturday and Sunday.

As many as 16,457 students had taken part in the placement drive. Several applicants have been selected for various levels during the selection process and will get employment in the future.

A large number of students from nursing field had taken part in the drive. The students from engineering, MBA, post graduation, degree, diploma, ITI, JOC had also taken part in the drive.

Jobs on offer were in IT, retail industries, media, nursing, NGOs, banking, hospitality, BPO, KPO, education, insurance and automobile sectors. Aerial India Pvt Ltd, IBM India Pvt Ltd, Honeywell, Astricks Technologies Ltd, Wipro, TVS Motors, ITC, Indian army, UAE Exchange and others had taken part in the mela.

Recruitment coordinator of Winman Software Prasanna said that students from across the state had taken part in the recruitment drive. “We could recruit candidates as per our expectation,” he added.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

• Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

• Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

• Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
