Mangalore, May 15: Condemning the series of scandals of BJP led Karnataka government, the members of the Communist Party India (Marxist) staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office, here.
The protesters demanded resignation of Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda as well as his Cabinet colleagues.
The Chief Minister should allow investigation into the mining illegality in view of the Supreme Court order for the CBI probe against the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, they said.
B. Madhava, CPI(M) Dakshina Kannada district unit Secretary, said that the BJP Government during its tenure had been involved in illegal and corrupt activities and many of its ministers, including the former Chief Minister, had been a key part of it.
He said the ministers in the BJP government who are facing one or the other charges should resign immediately and face a thorough inquiry.
“Despite facing several charges, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has not been ousted from the party, which reflects the lack of accountability of the BJP. Yeddyurappa along with ministers like R Ashok should be expelled from the party,” he said.
Calling the State government inactive, Madhava said as the Chief Minister has 20 Portfolios, the development work in the State has come to a standstill.
The situation has turned worse than what it appears as the concept of democracy has failed in the State. The State government has even failed to appoint Lokayukta and Upa Lokayukta, which in turn has helped the government to stay away from the inquiries, said the leader.
