Mangalore, May 15: BJP's internal crisis will not have a bearing on the Legislative Council polls said D H Shankaramurthy, MLC candidate for south west graduates' constituency.

Responding to mediapersons' query at a press conference held at the district BJP office in Managlore on Tuesday, about him campaigning for polls amidst infighting in the BJP, Mr. Shankaramurthy said that although the differences among party leaders are evident, it will not have a bearing on the poll results.

“The infighting within the party is not something we can hide now. It is out in the open. But the party cadre is not affected by it. Our poll campaign has been on track and our activists have carried out the campaigning work without bothering about the crisis that the party is facing. Besides, the crisis has not affected the development works that our government has been doing”, Mr. Shankaramurthy said.

Boasting of his track record, Mr. Shankaramurthy said that he has been representing the constituency for 24 years. He also said that in his tenure as minister for higher education, he had set up 184 colleges in the state including two in Mangalore.

Stating that both he and Ganesh Karnik, MLC candidate for the south west teachers' constituency, had been meeting voters in various cities and districts, Mr. Shankaramurthy said that the party is confident of victory in the polls scheduled to take place on June 10.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
