Mangalore, September 8: A large number of children clad in the costumes of Shri Krishna and many of their mothers dressed as Yashoda enlivened the precincts of Kadri Shri Manjunath Temple, one could see a show stopper in every other child.

Apparently, the parents had put in their best efforts for the show. But some children were unmindful of the spirit of the competition much to the chagrin of their parents.

They chose to play in puddles following rains. Some parents rushed to ensure that the costume is not soiled.

The competition was held by Kalkura Prathistana to mark Krishna Janmastami here on Saturday. There was overwhelming response to the competition held in segments such as Kanda Gopala (for those aged between 6 months and one year), Muddu Krishna, Bala Krishna and Yeshoda Krishna.

According to Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, there were 2,000 entries for the competition held at three different stages in the temple premises.

Each participant was given time of three minutes.

Among the many that attracted the attention was the one showing Vasudeva carrying a Kanda Krishna alongside Devaki. Many people were attracted to Kanda Krishna presentations held near the Ganapati Temple in the Kadri Temple premises.

The short spell of rain added colour to the event as it created puddles on the premises that allowed many children to play in water.

The scenes of mothers dancing with children in the Yeshoda Krishna segment also caught the attention of audiences.
