Bangalore, September 26: The family of Syed Umar (30), a cyber café owner from Munireddy Palya, who was allegedly picked up by policemen in plainclothes from his shop, have filed a missing complaint with the J.C. Nagar police station.

While they have filed a habeas corpus petition with the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court through a telegram, City Police Commissioner B.G. Jyotiprakash Mirji maintained no “arrests” were made in connection with the terror plot case. In an official communiqué, Mr. Mirji said so far the police had arrested 14 persons and all of them were in police custody. Apart from this, no fresh arrests were made, he added.

Additional Commissioner of Police T. Suneel Kumar reiterated that the detention of the cyber café owner was a rumour. However, Syed Saleem, Umar's brother, said he witnessed his younger brother being whisked away by men in plainclothes, who claimed that they were policemen and that they were taking him to enquire about his shop license.

Umar reportedly contacted Saleem later on Monday stating that he was with the police in Madiwala police station and would come back soon. But when there was no response from him, the family members filed the missing complaint in the night.
