Mangalore, Mar 8: A senior Bajrang Dal leader has accused the Muslim dominated organsiations like Popular Front of India, Campus Front of India and National Women's Front of engaging in so called “Love Jehad”.

Addressing media persons in the city on Friday, Bajrang Dal state convener Suryanarayana said that despite widespread campaign against “Love Jehad”, Muslim youths in the region have continued convert Hindu girls into Islam after winning their hearts.

“Organizations like PFI, CFI and NWF have been providing all kinds of support to those 'criminal Muslim youths', who lure and ravish 'innocent Hindu girls'”, he said.

Referring to the intercommunity love affair of Jayanthi (19), a scheduled tribe girl from Palthadi in Puttur taluk, whose 'Muslim boy friend' was arrested by police last week on charges of kidnapping and trying to convert her, Mr Suryanarayana said that some anti-Hindu forces provide financial assistance to Muslim youths to spoil Hindu girls under the pretext of love.

He alleged that a large number of innocent Hindu girls from coastal Karnataka have been smuggled to Ponnani for conversion by their Muslim boyfriends.

“That is why the number of missing girls has been increasing with every passing year. Some girls have been sold to Arab countries through agents,” he said.

Bajrang Dal leaders Jagadish Shenava and Sharan Pumpwell were present in the press meet.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
