Mangalore, Apr 20: Karnataka is all set to rope in Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as a star campaigner and he will campaign for the party in Karnataka on April 28 and 29.

Informing about the same, former chief minister and BJP National Vice-President D V Sadananda Gowda brushed away rumours that Mr. Modi will campaign only in Bangalore. “It is the state committee of the party which decides where he will be taken. The schedule of Mr. Modi will be drafted in a couple of days,” he said adding that attempts will be made to bring Mr. Modi to Mangalore as well.

Stating that the party is confident of bagging at least 130 Assembly seats, Mr. Gowda said that campaigning is being carried out at grassroots level by party workers.

“Our party workers will reach out to people and convey to them our achievements in the last five years. We have released our election manifesto yesterday and have refrained from making any promise which cannot be fulfilled,” he said.

Stating that there has been no problem in the party post ticket distribution, Mr Gowda said that the party has maintained a blend of experience and youth while distributing tickets and accordingly 50% of party's candidates in DK constituencies are youth.

“Although Congressmen speak about Rahul Gandhi's youth policy, it is we who are fielding the young brigade in good numbers. We have not given tickets to people who were put behind bars. There will be a surprise electoral verdict this time”, Mr. Gowda said.

When asked if Krishna J Palemar, BJP's candidate from Mangalore (North) constituency, does not figure in BJP's list of tainted people for having been linked with the blue film episode, Mr. Gowda said that it was just an allegation against Mr. Palemar and probes have already been carried out in this regard.

Film actress Tara, MLA candidates N Yogish Bhat and Srikar Prabhu, MLCs Monappa Bhandary and Ganesh Karnik were present.
