The chemical, being transported in a four-wheeler was detected during a check up. Each bag had 25 kg of ammonium nitrate.
The value of the chemical has been estimated at Rs 2.50 lakh. The driver of the vehicle and the seized chemical were given to the custody of the Rural police. A case has been registered.
It may be recalled here that a large quantity of explosives has been seized from farmhouse in Shimoga district earlier this week.
The confiscations have given rise to suspicious about evil motives of anti-social elements during the ongoing campaign for May 5 Karnataka Assembly polls.
