Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, Academy President Kasargod Chinna informed that the awards will be given away on March 26 at on Saturday May 25 at 5 pm in Dr Rajendraprasad Convention Hall, Gibs High School, Kumta.
Paul Moras (Konkani language and literature), Krishna Bhavani Shankar Bhat (Konkani art), and Argodu K Govindaraya Shenoy (Konkani folk) have been chosen for the award, he said.
The Book Awards will be conferred on Dr Pius Fidelis Pinto for the research book 'Karavali Karnatakanthlya Konkani Catholikancho Ithihas' (The History of Konkani Catholics in Coastal Karnataka), Tara Laveena Fernandes for the short story collection 'Daskath Ani Her Katha', and Aruna Rao Kundaje for Konkani poetry collection `Sakshatkar'.
The Yuva Puraskar-2012 (youth awards) will be conferred on Ankush N Nayak (music), Vianni Antony D'Cunha (sports and games), Ramakrishna Nayak V (painting) and Narayan Bhagvan Raikar.
The honourary award consists of Rs 10,000 cash, shawl, memento and a citation. The Book award consists of Rs 5,000 cash, shawl, memento and citation.
Commissioner of Kannada and culture department K R Ramakrishna will confer the Honorary Awards and Ananth Kumar Hegde, MP, will confer the Book Awards. Muralidhar Prabhu will present Yuva Puraskar.
Kumta MLA Sharada Mohan Shetty will inaugurate the programme. Kasargod Chinna will preside over the function.
