Mangalore, May 21: Two months have passed since the results of Urban Local Body polls were out and still the posts of Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Mayors and Deputy Mayors are lying vacant.

mcc
Assembly polls were announced within nine days of the ULB polls and since then the aspirants vying for the coveted posts of ULBs have been waiting to put an end to the anxiety.

Vinay Kumar Sorake has become the Urban Development Minister and with this vests with him the responsibility of deciding on the reservation for the prominent posts in the ULBs.

However, the Minister has said that he will be holding a meeting with the officials on May 22 to decide on the reservations for the posts of the Mayors, Deputy Mayors and for the posts of presidents and vice-presidents of various Councils and Town Panchayats.

According to reliable sources, there are all possibilities of the officials having the list ready at hand. If no politics enters into this, then the list can be implemented as it is. But, if the greed of giving posts to their own people and to keep the opposition members away from power overtakes, then the implementation of the list will take some more time.

Since CM Siddaramaiah has promised to provide 50 per cent reservation for women in the ULB, the women power is likely to take the state by storm.
