Mangalore, May 24: A blood donation camp was organised by the medical cell of Highland Islamic Forum (HIF) at Al-Kalam here recently.
Surgeon Dr Abdul Majeed, owner of Indira Hospital Mangalore Dr Nizamuddin, Dr Sreejith Chakravarthy from Kasturba Medical Hospital, Mangalore, and principal of St Mary's School Sr A C Sylvian were the chief guests on the occasion.
Dr Sreejith Chakravarthy, on the occasion, elaborated on the blood donation camp and the benefits of donating blood. Sr Sylvian said that awareness on blood donation ought to be created among students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Majeed said that if each noble work we did contributed to the welfare of the society, it would surely be successful.
This is the first blood donation camp held by the HIF medical cell set up a year ago. On the occasion, HIF president Mohammed Rizwan spoke on the purpose and future goals of the organisation and said that the blood donation camp would be henceforth organised annually.
Corporators Abdul Raouf and Abdul Latheef were present on the occasion. A total of 128 units of blood were collected in the camp.
Personality development camp
In association with Edutech Tutorials, the education cell of HIF organised a 16-day personality development camp for students. The valedictory programme of the camp was held at Edutech Tutorials in Deralakatte on the outskirts of Mangalore recently.
Chief guests on the occasion, president of Badriya Jumma Masjid K Abubaker and president of SDMC union Achyuta Gatty spoke on the significance of education.
HIF president Mohammed Rizwan said that the camp helped instill self-confidence in poor students and shaped their future by helping them opt for their chosen fields.
Skills in communicative English and orating, leadership training, computer training, accounting and facing interviews with self-confidence were the highlights of the personality development camp. Around 45 students from poor background participated in this camp.
