Addressing a news conference here on Tuesday Mr Katipalla said that CM should immediately convene a meeting of youth organisations.
“Previous BJP government in Karnataka had not only failed to address the needs of youth, but also had misguided them. It is the responsibility of the new government to discuss the problem of the youth and channelise youth power in the right direction,” he said.
Alleging the successive governments of the state of being indifferent towards youth and cheating them through false promises, Mr Katipalla said none of the ruling parties in the state so far have given priority to empower youth and eradicate unemployment. “States youth policy never concentrated on these issues,” he lamented.
The commercialization and saffronisation of education was rampant during the BJP rule. New government should completely stop this process, and give a new dimension to the education, he said.
Reminding that there are 1.70 lakh vacancies in different departments of the government, Mr Katipalla said Siddaramaiah led government should take immediate measures to eradicate unemployment by filling these posts. It is the responsibility of the government to initiate skill development training institutes in all districts to impart training, he said.
The youth policy announced by previous BJP government on the occasion of birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda, does not include any plans to promote scientific temperament among youth, he said.
