Shop stocking kerosene, diesel raided

Mangalore, Jun 6: Acting on a complaint of illegal stocking of kerosene oil and diesel in a shop at Hoige Bazar, officials of Department of Food and Civil Supplies conducted a raid on Wednesday.

A certain Damodar Karkera of Hoige Bazaar had complained that kerosene oil and diesel were being stored illegally in a shop next to his house in Hoige Bazar. Officials of the Department raided the shop with the help of police and locked the shop post-raid.

Sharana Basappa, Deputy Director, Department of Food and Civil Supplies said that the shop owner was not be found during the raid. The officials waited for the owner to show up for some time and later locked the shop and deployed police vigil at the spot. Investigation will be carried out again with the help of the police, he said.

A similar raid was carried out at the same spot a year ago. Illegal stock of kerosene oil had been recovered then too. Kerosene oil provided by the government at a subsidized rate for boats is stocked illegally, Mr. Basappa said.

Heading to Karavali Utsava? Check traffic changes and parking rules in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Dec 20: The Mangaluru City Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the inaugural ceremony of Karavali Utsava, which will be held at the Karavali Utsava Ground on Saturday.

The festival will be inaugurated at 6:00 pm by Dakshina Kannada District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. Cultural and public programmes will be held at the venue every evening and will continue until January 2.

According to City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, parking of vehicles is strictly prohibited on both sides of the road from Lalbagh to Karavali Utsava Ground. Visitors are requested to park their vehicles only at designated parking areas.

To help the public, traffic signboards and parking guidance flex boards have been installed along the routes leading to the venue. The police have urged commuters and visitors to follow these instructions to ensure smooth traffic movement.

The police have appealed to the public to cooperate by following traffic rules and parking guidelines to avoid inconvenience during the festival.
