Puttur, Jun 6: No talks of political partnership between the BJP and the KJP or merger of the two have taken place so far, said Shobha Karandlaje, former minister and KJP leader.

Speaking to media persons in Puttur, Ms. Karandlaje sought to put an end to the speculations and rumours of the union of the KJP with the BJP.

“I am not aware of any talks of understanding between the KJP and the BJP.  Our party leaders are not in touch with any leader from the BJP or the Sangh Parivar. These are mere political gossips. People have taught the  BJP a lesson in the Assembly elections. The same will be repeated in the Lok Sabha elections too,” Ms. Karandlaje said.

A known confidante of B S Yeddyurappa, Ms. Karandlaje said that the exit of the former Chief Minister from the BJP has already spelled doom for the party.

“People will not forgive the BJP for insulting Mr. Yeddyurappa and expelling him from the party. Some leaders in BJP are yet to learn a lesson. Mr. Yeddyurappa is responsible for elevating ordinary activists like me to cabinet ranks. I will always stand by his political decisions. Those having faith in his leadership are in the KJP. In the days to come, more people will identify themselves with KJP”, she said.

Stating that the KJP leaders are working towards strengthening the party further keeping the Lok Sabha elections in mind, Ms. Karandlaje said that there is no question of a compromise between the KJP and the BJP.

“All these talks of the KJP leaders strengthening the BJP has no substance. Our leaders are concentrating on strengthening our own party in view of the Lok Sabha elections. We are not interested in strengthening the BJP, neither is there a need for us to do so”, she said.
